Like pineapple cake! This is what Android 14 will be called

Google advanced with Android 10 its intentions to get rid of the use of dessert names to baptize the versions of its operating system . And this was confirmed with Android 11, which was not associated with any particular name.

Well, users of this Google OS who enjoyed names like Oreo, Pie or KitKat can be happy because it seems that the big G wants to go back to the old days when Android versions had funny names. The code name of Android 14 has been leaked and here we tell you what it is.

Upside Down Cake: Android 14’s Dessert Name

Como bizcocho de pina Asi se llamara Android 14

Many Android mobile users used the famous versions of this operating system that came with the names of desserts. But few know that the choice of these names was not random . The first version of Android was called Apple Pie, and from then on, all deliveries of Google’s OS would be named after a sweet or dessert in alphabetical order .

This is how after Android 4.1 Jelly Bean comes Android 4.4 KitKat, then Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat and Oreo until Android 9 Pie, the last one that was officially named following this rule. And although Android 10 was going to be called Queen Cake, the reality is that this never happened. Well, following this order, version Android 11 should have been named with the letter R, while 12 and 13 by the letters S and T respectively .

This means that Android 14 would be named after a dessert with the letter U and the guys from 9to5Google have confirmed it for us. Upside Down Cake (or backwards cake in Spanish) is the official code name of this future version of Google’s operating system . As reported by said medium, a change has been made in the source code of Android Open Project Source in which the name of this type of dessert can be read.

Will Android 14 be officially called Upside Down Cake?

Although Android 9 was the last to be named after a dessert, all recent versions have been linked to a dessert in their codenames . For example, Android 11 is internally known as Red Velvet Cake, Android 12 as Snow Cone, and Android 13 as Tiramisu.

For this reason, although it has been revealed that Android 14 has the code name Upside Down Cake, it is most likely that this version of Google’s operating system does not officially bear that name . No details are yet known about the possible news that this version will bring, but they are expected to be as attractive as the cake they have chosen for Android 14.
